Congress Heights Station

The Congress Heights Station is on Alabama Avenue in the District of Columbia. It is the only underground station of the five stations in the 6.5-mile-long Branch Avenue Route (Green Line trains) extension that opened on January 13, 2001. There are station entrances from both sides of Alabama Avenue. The train hall has the six-coffer design that a number of the later-built WMATA subway stations have, such as the Glenmont Station and the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Station. The station serves an urban residential area and the Saint Elizabeths Hospital complex.

The Congress Heights Station was built with a parking lot for 65 short-term Kiss-and-Ride spaces, a parking lot with 70 short-term metered spaces, and with 9 bus bays. (Source: "Green Line to Branch Ave Grand Opening", brochure handout by WMATA).
