Route 895 Construction - November 2001 - Photos 4-6

The first two photos on this page were taken near the 1st of November, and the last photo was taken in late November. The vantage point is from the ramp from VA-150 Chippenham Parkway to I-95 northbound, looking eastward toward construction of main span.

Above, only several cast-on-place segments remain to be constructed on the eastbound span of the main span of the Route 895 James River Bridge, which is being built by the cast-in-place balanced cantilever method. See my article
Route 895 Construction - August 2001 - Photos 6-10 for details about this construction method.

Above, taken about 30 minutes after the previous photo, but somewhat closer to the eastbound span of the main span of the Route 895 James River Bridge. Behind that span, the beginning of cast-in-place balanced cantilever method construction can be seen on the westbound span of the main span.

Above, the last cast-on-place segment is under construction on the eastbound span of the main span of the Route 895 James River Bridge. Photo taken three weeks after the previous two photos.
