Route 895 Construction - March 2002 - Photos 7-9

Here's 3 photos of Route 895 under construction, taken in March, 2002.

Above, main span of Route 895 James River Bridge. Eastbound span is complete, and only about 10 cast-on-place segments remain to be constructed on the westbound span of the main span. The main spans and side spans are being built by the cast-in-place balanced cantilever method. See my article
Route 895 Construction - August 2001 - Photos 6-10 for details about this construction method. The vantage point is from the ramp from VA-150 Chippenham Parkway to I-95 northbound, looking eastward toward construction of main span.
