Route 288 Construction - January 2002 - Photos 5-8

Here are photos of Route VA-288 under construction, taken in late January, 2002.

Above, looking north, about 1/2 mile north of West Creek Parkway in Goochland County. Construction on the western portion of VA-288 began in 1995 in Goochland County with a 3.9-mile-long project between West Creek Parkway and US-250 Broad Street Road, and the project was completed in 1997 as a 2-lane freeway on a 4-lane right-of-way. The roadway that I am on is the one that was completed in 1997. The project to complete the western portion of VA-288, started in 2001, will build a parallel roadway for northbound traffic, and that roadway can be seen under construction to the right. The overpass is Broad Branch Drive, a new local road that is under construction.

Bridges on mainline are over Broad Branch Creek. The overpass construction in the distance is for Tuckahoe Creek Parkway. Same vantage point as previous photo, but taken with a 135 mm telephoto lens (the first photo was taken with a 50 mm regular lens).

Above, looking north, construction of Tuckahoe Creek Parkway overpass bridge on VA-288. This will be a 4-lane divided bridge for the 4-lane divided parkway, and there will be a full cloverleaf interchange between the two roads.
